(Cedar Rapids, Iowa)—The 15th Annual Wendy’s Four Oaks Golf Classic is scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Cedar Rapids Country Club. This is Four Oaks’ major annual fund raising event to benefit the children and families served by Four Oaks. The Golf Classic has raised over $1,000,000 since the event began 15 years ago.

“Wendy’s of Cedar Rapids is proud to be Four Oaks’ sponsor,” stated Jeff Ruppel, President of Parco, Ltd. “Helping kids and families be successful is a common goal that both Wendy’s and Four Oaks share.”

Golfers from Cedar Rapids, as well as representatives from Wendy’s International and Wendy’s owners from across the Midwest will be on hand to golf and attend the evening banquet.

“It’s been an honor to serve as Chairman of the Wendy’s Four Oaks Golf Classic for the last 15 years,” said Tom Barbee of Wendy’s. “Each year keeps getting better and better which means we have been able to help more and more kids.”
The tournament funds the Four Oaks Dummermuth Intergenerational Center (also known as the “Bridge”) and Special Needs Adoption Services. The Four Oaks Bridge houses prevention programs, such as the Achievement Academy, that allow children to flourish and interact with adults who serve as positive role models, and is solely funded by donated dollars. Four Oaks’ Special Needs Adoption Services provides a full range of recruitment, training and support services to adoptive/permanent families of special needs children.

Over 240 golfers will tee off at one of the two shotgun starts – one at 8 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. The best-shot format also features flag events, putting contests and hole-in-one prizes. Other activities include a silent auction, raffle, banquet and a special send-off for the golfers by children enrolled at the Four Oaks Achievement Academy.
