From the Fireside Winery wine-tasting to the hayrack ride to the magical moment when people were taken to the table in the cornfield, the first Cuisine in the Corn on August 27 was an undisputed success.
Special thanks to the Bloomsbury Farm team for attention to every detail and the succulent meal that was enjoyed in the middle of the field, beneath a clear Iowa sky. Everything on the menu came from Iowa and the long table facilitated traditional Iowa dining: face to face and elbow to elbow with your neighbor.
At the conclusion of the meal, the Burlington Street Bluegrass Band from Iowa City treated the group to some toe-tappin' music. Several people even took advantage of the variety of activities that are available at Bloomsbury Farm! The Xavier Show Choir students assisted the Bloomsbury staff.
"Perfect evening! I can't wait for next year!" was a ringing endorsement for Cuisine in the Corn. While "a good time was had by all," the best thing is the success of the evening serves to benefit the kids and families that Four Oaks serves.
