Kids' Service Day deemed big success! Despite being preceded by a day of rain, the first PLANT*NURTURE*GROW Kids' Service Day project on Sunday, May 15 was a big success.  There were 22 families (including MANY kids!) on hand to plant flowers and trees at the Four Oaks main campus on Kirkwood Blvd., the Bridge Dummermuth Intergenerational Center, Cedar Valley Apartments and Hawthorne Hills.

The rain on Saturday left several muddy flower beds, which the kids decided was a real treat.  Another bonus was the collaborative effort from the Service Day participants and Four Oaks kids.  Following an afternoon of planting, all the kids returned to the Four Oaks Smith Center for an art project and walking tacos, courtesy of Carlos O'Kelly's.  Trees for the event were donated by Fleming Nursery and paper products were donated by University of Iowa Community Credit Union.

Special recognition goes to the organizers of the first PLANT*NURTURE*GROW Kids’ Service Project: Suzy DeWolf, Nikki Skogman, Dina Dusek, Tiffany O’Donnell and Britney Courter.

Watch for the 2nd Annual PLANT*NURTURE*GROW Kids' Service Day Project in May 2012!
