Four Oaks Receives Dubuque Racing Assoc. Grant

Four Oaks-Dubuque was recently awarded a $9,702.49 grant from the Dubuque Racing Association to equip Four Oaks students with laptops through the use of a computer cart. The computer cart will hold all the devices and serve as a mobile computer lab.

Four Oaks collaborates with the Dubuque School District to provide a conduct disorder classroom for students who are at-risk due to social, emotional and behavioral diagnoses. This new technology will allow students and teachers to have access to the same technology as those in other classrooms throughout the District. Providing the same access to technology equalizes the educational opportunity and increases the chance for student success.

“We are grateful to the Dubuque Racing Association for their support of this project,” said Amy Kallaher, Regional Director for Four Oaks – Dubuque.  “Our staff utilizes the same curriculum as the Dubuque Community Schools with some of the lessons best taught using technology that had previously not been available to Four Oaks students. Technology is an important part of today's educational experience, and computer skills are critical for most occupations. Having these computer carts in Four Oaks classrooms will ensure students are exposed to technology that they would have in their home schools and ensure a smooth transition back into the classroom or into the future workforce.”

Thank you to the Dubuque Racing Association for providing Four Oaks’ Dubuque students with greater learning opportunities!
