The Great Eastern Iowa Duck race will take place on Saturday, June 25, but the ducks will soon start making an appearance. Representatives of Four Oaks, joined by the Daybreak Rotarians and representatives of the other recipient organization, Polk Elementary and Boys & Girls Club, will participate in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Cedar Rapids on March 17.
Teams have also started to form at Four Oaks as employees will begin selling ducks after March 17.
The Great Eastern Iowa Duck Race was a popular fundraiser back in the 1980’s and 90’s. Daybreak Rotary decided to resurrect the event and “take back the river,” in an effort to raise funds for non-profits affected by the floods.
Daybreak Rotary will be selling ducks in creative ways this spring, along with attending the popular Farmer’s Market in downtown Cedar Rapids. The website to purchase ducks online at $5 apiece will be open starting in April Friend us on Facebook!
