Homelessness. It happens here. And for that reason, Four Oaks was one of four agencies across the U.S. selected to help homeless parents get on their feet again. Each month, we place three homeless families in stable housing, but we need your help.

When Mia first came to Four Oaks, her life was quickly spiraling downward. She was homeless and lost her job after going to jail. Mia’s son, Donovan, was removed from her care after she was caught driving under the influence with him in the car.

On July 1, 2014 Four Oaks began an affiliation with Family Resources, headquartered in Davenport. This affiliation improves efficiencies, expands our mission and enhance services for children in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.

Charles is a 5th grader in the College Community School District and he, his mom, Misty and big sister, Deleigha live at Cedar Valley Townhomes, which is owned and operated by the Affordable House Network.

Four Oaks Mason City broke ground June 4 on a new facility to help young children who have mental health and behavioral issues. The center will be a Psychiatric Medical Institute for Children and provide residential treatment for children ages 5-12.

One year ago, Jim Ernst announced his intention to retire in 2014. The Four Oaks Board of Directors selected longtime staff member Anne Gruenewald as the next CEO. Jim will be officially retiring and stepping down on May 1.

During May, Four Oaks Iowa KidsNet team member Chris Barnett will be walking across Iowa in celebration of National Foster Care Awareness Month to raise awareness for foster care and the need for foster and adoptive parents.

The Jane Boyd Community House Board of Directors has appointed Dorice Ramsey as the agency’s Executive Director. Ramsey currently serves as the Director of Wellington Heights programs and will continue to oversee that work.

Darrell* is funny, patient and ultimately a good father, but that didn’t stop him from becoming addicted to meth. Eventually Darrell was arrested and his 2 year old son, Gabriel*, was removed from his care by the Department of Human Services.

Mercy Medical Center operates an in-house print shop. Each year, Mercy prints a variety of promotional materials for Four Oaks, free of charge. Four Oaks is able to put funds that would have been spent on printing back to its mission.
