Four Oaks employee receives state award

Long-time Four Oaks employee Jody Unsen was just one of five individuals recognized by the
Coalition for Family and Children’s Services in Iowa at the organization’s 31st annual conference in Des Moines on October 20.
Unsen received the Child Care Worker of the Year Award, which is given to highlight the importance of childcare workers in the child welfare/juvenile justice system. Award recipients are also recognized for enhancing the field by demonstrating the ability to lead by positive and consistent example.
Unsen is a day manager in the Psychiatric Medical Institute for Children (PMIC) program. In the nomination, training and performance coordinator LaRae Heyl noted, “Jody sets the tone every day for managing her kids and getting them in a positive frame of mind before they start school. Jody ensures that each kid is given an opportunity to have a successful day and she does that with complete patience.”
