Four Oaks has received nearly $17,200 from the Cedar Rapids Daybreak Rotary. The funds represent the agency’s portion of the proceeds from the Rotary’s Great Eastern Iowa Duck Race, which was held on June 25 at Ellis Boat Harbor in Cedar Rapids.

Rotarian duck chairman Bill Courter announced at Wednesday evening’s check presentation at Phalen’s Interiors that more than 16,000 ducks were sold. In just its third year, the Daybreak Rotary’s duck race is the fourth largest duck race in the country.

Other recipients were Polk Elementary, Boys & Girls Club, and the Jon Cushing Memorial Sunshine Fund.

The Four Oaks funds will benefit the Achievement Academy. Four Oaks is one of the state’s largest child welfare, juvenile justice and behavioral health agencies. Four Oaks and its affiliates serve more then 14,000 children and families in all 99 Iowa counties.
