Four Oaks makes connections in our communities

The first step was to read the instructions for the gingerbread house!
Iowa’s only nuclear power plant is brightening the holiday season for children receiving services through Four Oaks.
The state-wide child welfare agency received a $10,000 gift from NextEra Energy Duane Arnold this week in addition to accepting hundreds of gifts donated by plant employees for children in the Four Oaks residential treatment programs.
“We have more than 600 employees at our facility who are personally invested in this community,” said Communications and Public Affairs Manager Renee Nelson. “Our organization and our employees understand the connection between strong communities and good business, and we are happy to invest our contributions this holiday season into the quality programs offered by Four Oaks.”
Armed with paint brushes, cleaning supplies and gingerbread houses, several local McGladrey employees volunteered at various Four Oaks locations on October 26 and November 10.
At the Smith Center, the group cleaned, painted and helped with Halloween preparations. While at the Cedar Valley Apartments, the volunteers helped sort donated clothing and constructed gingerbread houses with the kids in the after-school program.
Four Oaks has enjoyed a great partnership with McGladrey and extends a special thank-you to Dawn Pershy, the Office Services Manager who coordinated the McGladrey effort.
Most friends send you a card for your birthday or invite you over for a barbecue. But when your friend is GE Capital, the expressions of support seem endless.
As just one of six non-profit organizations from across the country chosen to participate in GE Capital’s “In the Community, for the Community” program, Four Oaks has learned first-hand that a friendship with this international company can build lasting relationships and affect hundreds of children.

Farmers State Bank
There was no sleigh and not a snow flake in sight, but the spirit of Christmas showed up early this year as all branches of Farmers State Bank organized a Summer Santa Toy Collection for the children of Four Oaks.
The August program allowed customers and employees donating toys and stuffed animals. The items will be distributed to Four Oaks kids at Christmas time.
Hats....and stocking caps!.....off to our friends at Farmers State Bank!
Billion Automotive of Iowa City
Billion Automotive of Iowa City took its popular Backpack Giveback to a whole new level this year. The car dealership gave a free ticket to Four Oaks Night at the Kernels to anyone who dropped off school supplies for Four Oaks. For several weeks prior to the event, Billion sponsored radio advertising on Cumulus radion stations KHAK and KDAT.
Before the first pitch was thrown at the August 3 baseball game, Billion Automotive presented a check for $3,000 to Four Oaks. Cumulus Radio was also on hand to present a check to Four Oaks.
Four Oaks has enjoyed a tremendous partnership with Billion Automotive; last year Billion provided a Christmas party (yes, with popular toys!) for the kids at Cedar Valley and provided a hole sponsorship at the 18th Annual Four Oaks Golf Classic sponsored by Lil' Drug Store Products.
It's full speed ahead with Billion Automotive and Four Oaks!
